Optics / Mirrors / Hot and cold mirrors

  • Hot mirrors

Hot mirrors are used to separate visible light from heat. The use of borosilicate type glass enables operation at high temperatures. They should preferably be operated at an AOI of 0°. The most common wavelength range for an average transmission of 85% through the hot mirror is 420 nm – 700 nm. The reflection range for the hot mirror for R > 95% is 800 nm – 1000 nm.
      • High transmission for the visible wavelength range
      • Highly reflective for infrared
      • Removes heat from the system
      • Uses Borofloat® type glass
      • Dielectric coating
      • Angle of incidence 0° or 45°
      • Custom mirrors available for your configuration
    • Material Borosilicate glass

      Thickness 3.3 mm
      Dielectric mirror coating
      Transmission (typical) > 85 % between 425 nm – 700 nm
      Reflection (typical) > 90% between 750 nm – 1050 nm

  • Cold mirrors

Cold mirrors are used to reflect visible light and remove heat through transmission. They should preferably be operated at an angle of incidence of 45°. The most common wavelength range for transmission through the cold mirror is 800 nm – 1200 nm. The average transmission range is T > 85%. In addition, R > 95% for 400 nm – 700 nm.
